The Glimmering Tide is a weekly-ish offering from Louisa Flynn, on raising children (and nurturing hope) amid climate breakdown.

Drawing inspiration from everyday encounters with the natural world: whether it's the daily school run at the urban edge of Bournemouth, or weekend walks exploring the heaths, woodlands, and coastlines around Dorset, Louisa is fascinated by the nature immediately around and within us - not just as beautiful places to visit, but as critical aspects of being human.

Through thoughtful fragments—a blend of creative non-fiction and poetry—Louisa seeks to uncover the deeper meanings behind her experiences, with posts intended to serve as reminders of the glimmers that surround us.

About Louisa Flynn

Louisa is a vibrant voice in the fields of nature and wellbeing, contributing to various publications, and she is currently completing a master’s degree in creative writing, where she is exploring her ecofeminist inspired practice in new nature writing and eco-poetry, writing a book along the way.

As a yoga practitioner and certified teacher, Louisa is the creator of The Yoga Letters, a quarterly newsletter that focuses on a sense of reconnection with self and others, in community, as well as with the natural world, using yogic philosophy and other ancient wisdom traditions as a guide.

Above all, though, Louisa cherishes her role as a mother and considers this to be her most meaningful work, approaching the dawn of midlife as the ultimate adventure in creativity and personal growth.

Born in South West London and of mixed British and Irish heritage, Louisa currently resides on the South Coast of the UK in Dorset.
